Project Zero: Building the Next Generation of Singapore Esports

Project Zero: Building the Next Generation of Singapore Esports

Project Zero began with a simple idea: create a platform where Singapore’s next generation of esports players could compete, develop and be given an opportunity to take their first step.

In 2026, Absolute Zero turned that idea into reality.

Launched as a community-focused Mobile Legends: Bang Bang competition, Project Zero was built to provide aspiring players with something beyond a one-off tournament. The goal was to create a recurring competitive platform — one where teams could gain experience, compete in a structured environment and be part of Singapore’s wider esports ecosystem.

FROM AN IDEA TO A RECURRING LEAGUE

Project Zero’s first season established the foundation. Open qualifiers gave community teams an opportunity to compete, leading into an eight-team playoff stage and a live finals weekend at Wanyoo Esports’ National Training Centre.

But that was only the beginning.

Project Zero returned for a second season in August 2026, expanding on the structure established earlier in the year. Returning teams were joined by teams emerging from open qualifiers, culminating in a six-team double-elimination LAN playoff featuring Aura Wyverns, Team Mayhem, Liquidity x AZ, Valhalla Gaming, Sleepyeepy and Astroboys.

The season concluded across two days of live competition on 29–30 August at Wanyoo Esports NTC @ The GRiD.

BUILT WITH THE INDUSTRY

Project Zero was never intended to exist in isolation.

Across its first year, the initiative brought together organisations and partners from across the esports and gaming ecosystem, helping us create a more complete experience for participating players and the community.

For Season 2, Project Zero was organised by AZ Entertainment alongside MPL Singapore as League Partner and Wanyoo Esports as Venue Partner, with support from Space Station, Flex Sea Gaming, MANYC, SGFR and other contributors to the event.

From competitive matches and live broadcasts to on-site activities, community engagement and partner activations, Project Zero continued to develop beyond simply being another online tournament.

THE FIRST YEAR OF PROJECT ZERO

What began as an idea at Absolute Zero became a recurring community competition within its first year.

Two seasons. Open qualifiers. Live playoffs. Industry partners. Hundreds of matches and opportunities for players to compete on a structured platform.

More importantly, Project Zero demonstrated what can happen when investment is made at the grassroots level.

Absolute Zero was founded on the belief that everyone has to start somewhere. Project Zero is an extension of that belief — creating opportunities for players who may be at the beginning of their competitive journey today, but could become part of Singapore esports’ future tomorrow.

THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING

The first year established the foundation.

Our ambition for Project Zero is to continue developing the platform, creating more opportunities for the community and building something that can grow alongside Singapore esports.

Everyone starts at zero.

This is Project Zero.
